· SMD - Semi Metalic Disc ·

After years of intensive research, a new concept of musical reproduction was developed: the Semi Metallic Disk (SMD), which with an innovative, creative and profitable approach reduced the marketing cost of a Compact-Disk (CD) in almost 80%.
Allying simple visual standards, a guarantee of reproduction quality and this innovative semi metallization method, SMD aims at providing music to all people at a fair price.
Music world celebrities are committed to SMD development and spreading because they understood the importance of this concept.
Negotiations are under way with several music artists and soon their albums will be launched in this format that is also beginning to be adopted by major broadcast players in the country. We know such changes represent a true cultural revolution. So we are depending on support from all of you: artists, composers, musicians, recording labels, stores and the media. Be a partner of this project! Spread the news! Get involved! Ask! Listen!

Production - SMD production costs are lower, with progressive discounts, allowing for new talents, without sponsorship, to have their music to be launched in the marketplace. SMD’s manufacturing cost is in average 30% cheaper than that of a conventional CD.
SMDs are manufactured in the same factories that produce CDs and may be played in any CD-player, though their reproduction technique differs from that presently used for CDs.
The acrylic cases were replaced by one made of special carton that is modern, less costly and does not break. It may be closed, what makes storage easier and guarantees the media integrity, and the inserts were replaced by the poster-magazine. Technical specs and credits are printed on the carton cases, in the magazines or on the SMD labels.
SMD audio storage capacity is up to 60 minutes (16/18 tracks) or about 500Mb of data.
SMDs may be produced in several colors and formats, what makes it appropriate to be used in advertising campaigns or special editions for a specific public.
While its tracks can be copied separately in the conventional way, an SMD itself cannot be copied as the material with which it is made is exclusive to its legal producers. Since there is no such thing as technology totally protected against illegal copy, SMD’s objective is to ensure a low price for the end consumer, thus inhibiting interest for bootleg CDs and ensuring a greater Sales volume return to the musician.

Marketing - Today, the average price of a CD in the points of sale is around R$ 19, what gives the store a profit margin below 5%. Bootleg sales, on the other hand, with zero cost and no taxes and copyright payment offers a CD for R$ 5 with a profit margin higher than 60%. This practically kills CD legal sales. The store’s profit margin with the SMD format is of 20%, even after paying all rights in the pyramid involving the production, manufacturing, advertising and marketing process. SMD price is printed on the cover, and is fixed, so it helps to combat bootleg practices.

Number of copies| Distribution - The musician has the option of producing only the SMD, with a minimum of 1,000 copies, to be sold for R$ 5,00 or the SMD Magazine (magazine + SMD), also with a minimum of 1,000 copies, to be sold for R$ 5,50 (in the magazine the musician may include his/her biography, press-releases, lyrics, sponsors, contacts, etc.).
Should the musician want his/her album to be distributed in newsstands, the minimum number of copies rises to 20,000. The musician may also choose to produce a determined number of SMD Magazines (1,000 copies, for instance), and sell them in their shows or use them to advertise his/her music in radio and TV stations and other media.
Product distribution may also be made through usual channels (music stores and retail), telemarketing, e-commerce, providing the musician with a higher exposure of his/her performance.
